There are a number of causes of this problem, the most common being an issue with your aerial.  Please check that your aerial is connected both in the back of the television in the correct socket and that it is connected to the wall. Other causes of this problem could be that your aerial is not pointing at the transmitter and needs adjustment by a professional or it requires a booster,  Contact your local aerial company for further advice.

It may also be that you have inadvertently skipped the initial setup.  Please consult your manual for advice on how to restart the tuning process for your particular model.  If you do not have access to your manual you may find it here

Can I mount my TV to the wall?

WARNING: Before mounting your TV to a wall you should ensure that the wall is able to hold the weight of the TV and the bracket.  You should use fittings appropriate to the wall.  Seiki will accept no liability for any damage howsoever caused.  Please take professional advice if you are unsure.

Your TV can be wall mounted using a VESA approved bracket. Please refer to the model specifications for wall mounting, located at the end of the user manual. This will give the hole spacing of the bracket needed e.g.200*200 (mm). The bracket will also come with all screws and accessories need for mounting to the wall.

Forsome of our smart TVs, we do include a wall mount (the stand) as well as thescrews to fit.

Can I update the firmware on my TV?

There are currently no firmware updates available for our televisions but if they do become available we will announce it on our Facebook page and on this website.

If you have a smart TV any updates that become available to the built in apps will be automatically made available on your TV.

Display not true 4K on a 4K TV

The picture quality on a 4K set is stunning but sometimes it doesn't show the quality you would expect.  This is because to fully experience the 4K Ultra HD picture you need to have a source capable of showing a 4K picture.  At the time of writing (Dec 15) the only broadcast of 4K in the UK is made via BT Sport.  However, your PC may be capable of supporting 4K or you may have a 4K capable Bluray player so you should check the settings and also check that your HDMI cable is capapble of support 4K UHD.  FOr further help please contact our helpline on 0345 658 8290.

DVD not playing/recognised

If you have one of our combi TV sets please check the following:

  • The disc is inserted the correct way round.  The right way is indicated on the TV
  • The disc is not dirty or scratched
  • The disk is the correct region (for the UK this is Region 2).
  • There are no foreign objects inserted in the DVD drive
I you have an external DVD player please ensure the it is plugged in and operation correctly and that you have selected the correct source on your TV.

How can I check what TV channels that should be available to me?

Use the Digital UK coverage checker that can be found here.

How do I get the TV Channels I want

During the initial set up of your TV you will have been asked to perform an initial scan of TV channels.  If you skipped this you will need to do it to receive the available channels.  If you move house you will also need to rescan the channels as you may be serviced by a different transmitter.

If new channels come on air you will normally be prompted to rescan to pick these up.  You can rescan at anytime without any problems.

Full details of how to scan for channels can be found in your manual.

I cant see all the TV Channels I was expecting

If you are using an indoor aerial it may be that it is not powerful enough to pick up the full range of digital channels.  We would suggest trying to connect your TV to the main aerial if necessary.  You may also want to use the Digital UK checker to see what services are available to you.

I have a picture, but no sound

It may seem obvious, but make sure that your television isn't muted or the sound turned down very low.  If you are watching an external source, make sure all the cables are firmly plugged in.  This is especially true on Scart where if  the plug is slightly loose the sound pin may not be connected correctly.  If you are listening via a soundbar or other external sound system please make sure this is connected correctly and set up as per the manufacturer's instructions.

I have connected an external AV source to my television and I get no picture and/or sound

Please check that all cables are correctly plugged into both the TV and the external source.  Once you have checked this, check that you have the correct source selected on your TV and the correct output selected on your external device. Also remember to check that the audio settings are correct on both your TV and external source.

I have everything connected but there is no picture or sound

Make sure that all cables are firmly connected in your television and your external AV sources.  After you have made all connections  press the INPUT or SOURCE button on either the TV or remote and choose the correct source.  Make sure your cable, satellite, games console or other set top box is  turned on.  If all this fails, try another set of cables.  If you're still having problems please call our helpline on 0345 658 8290.

I have sound but no picture

Make sure all cables are firmly connected into your television and your external AV source.  After you have made all connections make sure the sound input matches the video input.  If you are trying to view a TV station switch to another station because some channels may be having broadcast difficulties. Check your brightness and contrast settings are correct by entering the main menu and adjusting as necessary.

I opened the box and an accessory was missing. What do I do?

We're really sorry about this.  We have stringent quality control but sometimes mistakes happen.  If you contact us either through our Facebook page by sending us a message, by emailing us contact-us@seiki-uk.com, filling in the contact form on this website or by calling us on 0345 658 8290 we will send the missing accessory by return.  Please make sure we have the following information:

  • Your name and address
  • A contact point in case of query
  • Which accessory is missing
  • Your TV model number (normally start SE and is on the back of your TV and on the box)
  • The TV serial number (this is vital)
  • Where you purchased the TV and purchase date

Is there an easy way to "leap" between channels?

There are two ways you can jump between channels:

  1. Memorise the Freeview channel numbers (not always the most practical way!)
  2. Use the "Favourites" function that is built into the EPG.  Consult your manual for how to use this feature on your model.

I've lost my manual - where can I get another one?

We've got a selection of manuals available to download here.  If the one you require is not available please use our Contact Form to request one or send us a message on Facebook.

I've plugged my set in but it won't turn on.

Some of our TVs have a master power switch on the back.  This needs to be turned on before the remote will work.  If this isn't the cause of the problem then please check the following:

  1. The TV is plugged in and turned on at the mains (seems obvious, we know, but sometimes it is overlooked!)
  2. Try pressing the on/off (standby) button on the TV.  If this works then check your remote (steps 3 and 4). If it doesn't work, go to step 5 and call our Customer Service department.
  3. Check the batteries in the remote control.
  4. If you are using a universal remote control (such as a Sky remote, Virgin Media or All-In-One) make sure you have set up the correct code.  Contact the remote manufacturer for further assistance.
  5. If you've checked all of this and the TV still won't switch on give our helpline a call on 0345 658 8290
Once power is connected successfully the front LED will glow red.

My remote control is not working or only works when I am close to the television

If you are using a Seiki remote control please replace the batteries.  If this doesn't solve the problem please contact us and we will assist.

If you are using a thrid party remote (such as a Sky remote, One-4-All or other universal remote) please check that you have set it up using the correct code and that its batteries do not need replacing.

Please also check that there is no obstruction between yourself and the TV that may be stopping the remote from working.

My soundbar isn't working with the TV

Please make sure that your soundbar is set up and connected in line with the manufacturer's instructions. If you are still having problems once you have followed their instructions please contact us on 0345 658 8290 or via our contact page

My television won't power on. What could be wrong?

Please first of all check the obvious things:

  • Is the TV plugged in and turned on at the mains socket
  • Is the mains socket working with other equipment
If you are trying to turn on your TV using the remote, make sure you are  using new batteries and they inserted properly.  On universal remote controls make sure you have pressed the TV button first.  If you are still having problems, please contact us.

My TV has an Ethernet Port but is not a Smart TV. Why?

If your Seiki TV has an Ethernet port but isn't a Smart TV this means it may be able to pick up Freeview Streaming channels.

You needs to connect the DTV aerial as well as the Ethernet lead.

This link takes you to a current list of streaming channels available:-

Picture is the wrong size/ratio

In the UK, television is generally broadcast in Widescreen format, also known as 16:9 (the ratio of the picture length to height).  Your TV defaults to this size, but it is possible to change it through the settings to 4:3 (the old format before widescreen became popular), automatic zoom and full screen size.  If the picture being broadcast is of a different size to the one you select you may find it will be stretched or truncated giving an unnatural feel to the picture.  To avoid this, when watching standard broadcasts keep your TV on Auto and your Seiki TV will make the picture look simply brilliant.

If you are using your TV as a computer monitor you can adjust the settings on the set-up menu.  Depending on the model, you can get a high quality display by ensuring that the screen mode is set to PC and the Aspect Ratio is set to Full.  The best quality picture will be shown if you connect your PC using an HDMI cable although VGA works great too.

Sky TV not working through TV

Please check that the cable between your Sky box and the TV is securely plugged in (either through the HDMI port, SCART or Component cable).  Once you have checked this, please check that you have the correct source selected on the TV menu.  You should also check the operation of your Sky box. For fault finding on your Sky box please check their website here.

The sound is out of sync with the pictures.

This is sometimes called "Lip Sync".  You can adjust the lip sync via the option on your settings menu or if you are using third party equipment (for instance a Sky box or sound bar) you can adjust the settings on there.  We would suggest that you adjust by one setting at a time (this is usually done in milliseconds - start off with the smallest adjustment and work your way up).

TV turns itself off after 4 hours

One of the great features of our TVs is their ability to turn off after a set period of time if there is no interaction between the TV and the remote control.  This is obviously a great feature to help save electricity and helps to address environmental concerns.   However, if you've been watching a lot of the same channel or the same external source (such as Sky or a Games Console) and not changed anything on the TV it will turn itself off after a set time (factory set to four hours).  You can adjust this setting through your TV's settings menu or even turn it off completely.

USB device not detected or recording programmes

Your Seiki TV can be used as a PVR (Personall Video Recorder) to allow you to record unprotected TV programmes.  If the programme being broadcast is protected the PVR function will be disabled.

To use the PVR function your USB memory stick should be formatted to FAT32 via your PC.

USB movies not playing

This could be that the memory stick you are using has been formatted incorrectly (it has to be formatted as FAT32 via your PC).  Alternatively your movie could be in the wrong format - it should be recorded in MPEG 1 or MPEG 2 format.  Check your manual for full specification or your device manual to make sure it is saving the movie in the correct format.

What code do I use for my Sky TV Remote?

Please ensure that you have a version 10 (or better) Sky Remote control.  You can find out the version number by removing the battery cover and looking at the sticker in there.  Then, following the instructions provided by Sky here, you can use the correct code. For the majority of our models the code is either 2992 or 3992. For a detailed breakdown of codes, please visit our Facebook page.
